Delmer L. Rice, age 91, of Fremont;
died in his home on Thursday, January 21, 2016.

Delmer was born November 13, 1924 in Royal, Nebraska and grew up in the Clearwater area. His parents were Alva and Selma (Rabbas) Rice. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy from May of 1943 to July of 1946.

On his return to civilian life he went to work for the Burlington Railroad as a telegrapher. Later he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a fireman, then became an engineer for the Chicago Northwestern and Union Pacific Railroads. He retired in 1987.

Delmer was also an antique dealer, and had a shop in Fremont beginning in the mid 1960's.

On October 11, 1947, Delmer was married to Dorothy Bennett, and she preceded him in death in September of 1986. Also preceding him was a grandchild and 5 brothers and a sister.

Delmer was a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200, and a 'Life Member' of VFW Post 854 of Fremont.

A memorial service will be 1 PM Monday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. The Fremont Honor Guard will present the U S Flag.

    Delmar was the first Uncle of Mary Jo's that I met so I just knew this was a great family. He was a fun loving but kind man and usually the keynote for the Thanksgiving dinners at AJ and Selmas. Will miss him.
