LaVaughn was born on the farm near Scribner December 8, 1922 to Gerhard and Clara 'Pfeiffer' Rastede. She was raised near Scribner and graduated from Scribner High. After high school she attended Midland College for a year, then taught for a year at a rural school in Cuming County. LaVaughn was married to Harold H. Low on February 7, 1942 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Hooper. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm near Scribner until 1982 when they moved into Scribner. LaVaughn was one of the founders and member of the Up & Cuming Extension Club. She was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. LaVaughn was involved in WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), taught Sunday School and was member of the Altar Guild.

Daughter - Brenda and husband Mike Lamberty of Lincoln
3 grandchildren - Scott and wife Michelle Lamberty of Howells
Shari and husband Lynn Becker of Lincoln
Shelly and husband Clint Lilienthal of Lincoln
7 great grandchildren

LaVaughn was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be on 10:30am Monday March 24 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. Vicar Judy Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hooper Care Center and the Scribner Rescue Squad.

Visitation will be on Sunday March 23, 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before service at the church.
