Marijo was born March 7, 1929 in the family farm home near Westminster, South Carolina. Her parents were Jessie Brownlee King and Maderia 'Alexander' King. She was baptized and attended the Coneross Baptist Church there. She grew up in a community of relatives, and attended grade school in Westminster, and during her high school years, she spent the summers living in a boarding house in Atlanta, Georgia while working in a Sears store. She graduated from high school in Walhalla, South Carolina.

Marijo met her husband to be while she was working in Harpers 5 & 10 in Walhalla. He was a Nebraskan, who while on vacation with his friends, went into Harpers store to make a purchase. Eventually, on April 9, 1950, she married Norman Kruger in Walhalla, and they made their home on his family farm place in rural Arlington, Nebraska in the Telbasta area. They spent their married years on this farm until 1979, when they moved ¼ mile south to another house. Marijo lived there until becoming a resident of Merrick Manor in Fremont. She had worked at Camp Fontanelle for 25 years, and for many years she operated 'My Own Touch' catering service.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont. She also belonged to the Pleasant Hour Club and to SMILES (of Hooper).

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in March of 1990, by a grandson James Kruger in Febr. of 1994, by a great granddaughter Madison Ness in January of 1996, and by a sister Sally Ruth King.

  3. Donna Sagehorn & Children
My children, Jason (and family), Eric, Ryan, Kristi and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Marijo Kruger. We have known Marijo and her children (and their families) for many, many years. We shared their happy times at graduation parties, and their grief and loss of their loved ones that preceeded Marijo. The Kruger family holds a special place in our hearts. Marijo was such a kind, loving, and giving person. We will miss her. A fond memory, that we have, is when the children would go "Trick or Treating" on Halloween night. They always wanted to go to Marijo's house, because they knew she would treat them with a can of pop (of their choice, of course). No matter what the weather was doing, on that Halloween night, Marijo would always have them come in so she could see them in their costume. (Even if their shoes were damp or a little muddy.) And Marijo always made sure Mom or Dad came in and had a can of pop also. She even treated the "big ones!" God has truely brought an "Angel" home. God bless all of you.

We lost a wonderful person yesterday. There aren't enough pages or words to say how much Marijo meant to us. There will never be another woman quite like her. I will never forget her smile or her voice. I'm so glad that she is at peace and with our Lord now. It's still hard when he takes people like her home. Know that each one of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kruger Family: You all have my deepest Sympathy. Grandma Kruger was an amazing woman and she touched many of our lives in very special ways. She is now at peace and at home with god and I hope you can find comfort in that. I know our family will miss her tremendously and will think of her often. Dylan and Kaylee will tell you that she is now the brightest star in the sky and she shines the light on us every night so God can watch over us as we sleep. You are in our thoughts and prayers:) Amy Kucera

Kruger Family: There will NEVER be another "Grandma Kruger" in this whole world that will ever touch me so personally as Marijo did. She taught me a lot about life and the struggles and turmoil's that go with it. She also taught me about true friendship and how to have fun, laugh and be yourself. She also taught me that from sorrows and disappointments comes strength. She was a strong believer in the higher power and he's now called her home because he only takes the best. May each and ever one of you find strengh in knowing she is in the best place ever. I'm almost sure she is serving something "yummy" there too.
