He was born August 15, 1928 on the family farm near Denison, Iowa to Bernie and Mabel Johnson. He moved into Denison with his family and grew up there.

To Darlene and Family, My sympathy for your lost. I have many fond memories of Swede and his family so I am aware of your loss. Swede was a good friend and co-worker and brightened up any occasion with great smile and joyful laugh. What a great guy whom will be sorely missed. Sorry I could not be there to celebrate his life. Love Dennis

Our deepest sympathy to your family. I always enjoyed talking with "Swede" over the phone when I was stationed at Chadron. Swede and Don Leiding had the tough job of keeping the old pole line going between Norfolk and Fremont, even after the railroad track had been abandoned. He always had a positive attitude, even when we had all kinds of trouble on the line. Guys like Swede didn't need much managing. You just pointed them in the right direction and off they went. Another chapter in the life of the C&NW family has closed. Like a good book, we will always have the memories. Bill Jackson

I also cherish our short visit when I was in Fremont on a trip with a walking group. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Please share my sympathy with your family. Love, Sally Johnson
