Selma was born March 1, 1915 in Bertrand, Nebraska to Moses and Helen 'George' Sadd. She was raised and worked on the family farm near Shelton, NE. The farm is still operated by family to this day. Selma journeyed to California where her brother was stationed in the Army and worked there. She met Marion Shuster there and they were married October 21, 1942 in Salinas, California at the Presbyterian Church. They returned to this area and lived in many small towns in Nebraska until they settled in Fremont. The couple owned and operated Shuster's Shoe Repair. Selma also worked and retired from Campbell's Soup Company. Selma was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. She was also inducted into the Nebraska Navy by Governor Heineman on April 6, 2006. Selma enjoyed word puzzles, reading and embroidery. She was a wonderful cook. Selma's first priority was always her children and family.

The Shuster Shoe Store was always a mainstay of downtown Fremont, with a great reputation that will always be missed as part of "little town" Nebraska, by those of us who remember it so well. Always a friendly greeting with a family atmosphere and dependable service. Seeing that she worked at Campbell Soup had to be a challenge, as I fully understand the tough conditions in which they worked... ( My mother-in-law also worked there, Florence Osterberg) ....beside raising her family. She raised her son Ken to be an outstanding man with all the fine credits from his parents and their lifestyle. She will always be remembered IN THEM, and missed by friends and family.I'm sorry I didn't know her better, but know the family she raised is a credit to her memory.
