Edith L. Stuenkel, age 91
of Fremont, died early Wednesday morning, February 13, 2019 in Nye Legacy, Fremont.

Edith was born May 31, 1927 in Fremont to Edward and Louise (Jacobsen) Christensen. She had 16 brothers and 2 sisters. She lived her early years on a farm north of Fremont and attended rural Rosedale School Dist. 65. She lived with her parents and was their caretaker in their later years.

On November 27, 1971, Edith was married at the first United Methodist Church in Fremont to Harold Stuenkel.
They lived on a farm north of Fremont until 1978 when they moved in to town. Edith and Harold were avid bowlers for many years. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church where Edith was active in the Ladies Aid and a Bible study class. She volunteered at the former Arbor Manor and the former Merrick Manor.

Her husband Harold died in November of 1995. She is also preceded by 16 brothers and 2 sisters, Evelyn, Sterling, Harvey, Ervin, Gilbert, Edward, Seymour, Raymond, Emmett, Warren, Glenn, Ethel, Henry, Elwood, Paul, Manley, Rudy and Allen.

The funeral will be 10:30am Monday, February 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9am until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
