James "Jim" O. Scheer

He was born on January 21, 1940 to Otis and Meta (Scheer) Scheer in Arlington. Jim grew up on the family farm near Arlington. He was a 1957 graduate of Arlington High School.

Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1964. On his return from the service, he began his employment with Valmont and retired after 40 years in 2004.

On May 7, 1960, Jim and Lila Peters were married in Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lila in February of 2010, and by a son Kelly in November of 1989.

Survivors: son - Jeffery (and wife Jin) Scheer of St. Louis, Missouri
3 daughters - Janno Scheer (and significant other, Lawrie) of Hawaii
LaRae Scheer (and fiance' Alfredo Monjarez) of Fremont
Sherrie (and husband Andrew) Stough of Centerton, Arkansas
8 grandchildren - Cassandra, Alexandra, Rhianon, Jessica, Shelby, Noah, Hunter, and Maeson
brother - Orvin (and wife Joann) Scheer of Arlington

The funeral service will be 2 PM Monday (July 9th) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, with the Rev. Dan Heuer. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday from 3 to 8 PM with family from 6pm to 8pm.
