Lyle La Vine Hanson was born December 25, 1917 in Mead to Lizzie Mays Hanson and Elmer R. Hanson. He was baptized at the Wann Christian Church, Wann, NE and confirmed at Alma Lutheran Church, Mead.
He attended country school at Districts 38 and 37 and was a 1936 graduate of Mead Public High School in
Mead. Following graduation he worked several years on the family farm before moving to CA and working in an aircraft factory. He served in the US Navy from 1942-1945. Upon his return from the Navy he began work with his father's company, E.R. Hanson Well Drilling, which became E.R. Hanson & Sons Well Drilling, Mead. His company drilled some of the first irrigation wells in Nebraska. Lyle also farmed his parents' land for many years. He married Edith Gustafson Hanson on July 29, 1945, at the Gustafson family farm in Ithaca. They moved to Wahoo and several years later to Mead, where they lived for 36 years, before moving to Fremont in 1986, following Lyle's retirement.

He was a member of Alma Lutheran Church for 25 years and has been a faithful member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont since 1986. He was a member of Fremont Kiwanis Club, Wahoo Masonic Lodge # 59 for 60 years, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1977 and belonged to Royal Arch, Fremont Eagles Club and Fremont Shrine Club. He was a member of Stella Chapter of No. 57 Order of
Eastern Star of Wahoo, where he served as Worthy Patron and his wife served as Worthy Matron. He enjoyed hobbies of trap & skeet shooting and hunting and he and his wife, Edith, enjoyed traveling in their motor home together and wintering in Arizona. They made trips to Sweden where they visited his relatives.

Survivor's include: two daughters, Sandy K. (Mrs. Paul) Bookmeyer of Lee's Summit, MO and Karen A. (Mrs. Dean) Carstensen of Fremont, four grandchildren, Eric (wife Dr. Erin Peterson) Bookmeyer of Mason City, Iowa, Marc Bookmeyer of Lee's Summit, MO, Wendy (husband Phillip) Sanders of Topeka, KS and Timothy Carstensen of Fremont, one great grandson, Anders Bookmeyer of Mason City, IA, a sister, Lorraine Retzlaff of Lincoln and a sister Doris Schuelke of Bedford, Iowa; 19 nieces and nephews; Vernon Robbins of Decatur, GA, Lanny Robbins of Midland, MI, Martha Robbins of Champlin, MN, Dwight Hanson of Ithaca, Donita Parker of Vancouver, WA, Jeannette Reitmajer of Westerville, OH, Gail Galate of Yuma, AZ, Victor Hanson of Ithaca, Randall Hanson of Papillion, Rhonda Carritt of Wahoo, Alan Retzlaff of Walton,
Janet Ronhovde of Lincoln, Paul Retzlaff of Lincoln, Kathy Reinke of Lincoln, Mark Schuelke of Bedford, IA,
Steve Schuelke of Raymond, Brian Schuelke of Solon,IA, Dennis Schuelke of Hendersonville,TN, and Linda England of Bentonville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four great grandparents, Peter W. Hanson and Betty Bengston
Hanson and Henry Damascus Mays and Amelia Meyer Mays, brothers Donald and Forrest Hanson, a sister, Mildred Robbins and a nephew, Royal Robbins.

The Revs. John Plowman and Alena Lamirato will officiate Monday's service. Dr. Vernon K. Robbins
will deliver the message and officiate at the burial service. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 pm with
family receiving friends 2-5 pm at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church, in Mead. Masonic Service will be 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home by Lodge No. 59 of Wahoo and is open to the public. A private burial will be Monday at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials have been established to Alma Lutheran Church, Mead and to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Fremont.
