Mark was born on September 17, 1975, in Neligh, Nebraska, to Clair and Karen (Wortman) Ohlrich. He was raised in Brunswick and graduated from Plainview High School in 1993. In 2016, he earned a degree in Electrical Mechanical Industrial Maintenance from Metropolitan Community College.
Throughout his career, Mark worked in welding and industrial maintenance. He was employed by Great Dane Trailers in Wayne, Pete's Custom Metals, Overland Products, Valmont Industries, the Fremont Department of Utilities, Fiserv, and most recently, Engineered Controls in Omaha.
Mark married Sara Eddie on April 26, 2003, in Randolph, Nebraska. Together they built their life in Fremont and shared 23 years of marriage.
One of Mark's greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. Whether he had known someone for years or had just met them, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Before long, strangers often became friends.
Mark found his greatest joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing and camping, appreciating the peace and beauty of the outdoors. He was a devoted Husker fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. His beloved dogs, Jordan, Dee, Gracie, and Kota, were treasured companions who brought him comfort, happiness, and unconditional love throughout the years. Above all, Mark cherished time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his wife, Sara; his mother, Karen of Norfolk; his sister, Teresa (Jerome) Kauth of Belden; his brother, Gene (Angie) Ohlrich of Belden; his sister, Pam (Tom) Biernbaum of Belden; his parents-in-law, Larry and Theresa Eddie of McLean; his brother-in-law, Jim (Sherri) Eddie of Arlington; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clair Ohlrich and grandparents John and Evelyn (Beyer) Wortman and Agge and Veryle (Nash) Ohlrich.
There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, July 30, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, July 31, at the mortuary.
Interment will take place at a later date.
