I served in the Army.
Lloyd E. Schulz, age 89, of Fremont
Died Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Lloyd was born June 10,1936 at Wisner, Nebraska to Ewald and Wilma (Meyer) Schulz. He was raised in rural Cuming County and graduated from Wisner High School. Soon after he graduated, he enlisted in the United States Army. Lloyd was always proud to have served his country and was a very loyal soldier for the rest of his life. Lloyd served in Alaska at the time of the Korean War. He returned home to Wisner to work at Sandahl Chevrolet as parts manager.

After meeting, and later marrying Sharon Dunker at the Fremont Presbyterian Church on June 5, 1960, he worked in the parts department at the Buick/Pontiac dealership in Fremont. Lloyd then accepted a job in parts at the missile sites both at Arlington and Eagle, Nebraska. Eventually he moved on to truck parts at Cornhusker Trucks in Omaha.

Retiring in 2001, Lloyd focused on helping his church in all ways he could. First as a deacon and soon after as an Elder, Lloyd served many years on the Worship Committee, taking on full responsibility for all Communion celebrations, a position he held until he died. Through the years he assembled the mowing committee (mowing for the last time on April 23, 2026), helped organize and was still participating in the Security Committee, participated in the Personnel Committee, Pastor Nominating Committee and any other way he could. Helping the children across the street was a great joy for Lloyd.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Sharon, son Jeffrey (Stacey) of Omaha, daughter Sherisse Wilkie of Fremont, grandchildren Alyssa Wilkie of Fond du Lac, WI; Brandyn Schulz of Colon and Riane (Michael) Bucholz of Waldorf, MD; sister Betty (Duane) TerMaat of Lincoln; sister-in-law Selene Schulz of Austin, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lonny, in-laws Harry and Evelyn Dunker and brother-in-law Merwyn Dunker.

Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel with the family present from 5-7pm. The funeral will be Saturday, May 9, at 10am, at the Fremont Presbyterian Church, burial with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Sharon and family,
Lloyd was such a special person. I admired his dedication to everything he did. In all the years I've known him, he never did anything half way and always stepped up to the task. I will miss him. I hope you feel the love that all your friends from church are sending to surround you at this time.
