Died Monday, February 16, 2026 at Methodist Fremont Health.
William (Bill) was born February 23, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Roy and Amanda (Petersen) Kiger. He grew up in Springfield, NE and later moved to Fremont where he graduated 1954. He married Sharon K Kitzelman on July 4, 1966. They married on Independence Day, not because it was a sweet love story but because the restaurant was closed on a Monday due to the holiday.
Bill started out in the restaurant business with ''Wild Bill's Drive In'' from approximately 1959 to 1963 then ''The Star Boiler'' 1963 to 1970 with his brother Robert (Bob) Kiger. In 1970 he and his brother decided to go into the RV business and started Kiger Brother RV Sales and Services. He was in the camper business until he retired in 2002.
Bill was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed woodworking with Sharon. He bowled for years and enjoyed going to his kids and grandkids sporting events. After they retired, they spent a few winters in their camper in Southern Texas and in Arizona. They were involved in the Eagles Camping Club and Hitchhikers of Nebraska Camper Club.
William is survived by his, Sister-in-law Carrie Kiger of Fremont; Children -Darrin (Melissa) Kiger of Fremont, Susan (Shawn) Thurlow of Fremont, Denise (Shane) Thurlow of Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren - Emma Kiger and Cole Barden Janesville, MN, Sydney and Hannah Rusow of Kearney, NE, Tristan Thurlow of Fremont, NE, Dixie Thurlow of Omaha, NE, Kolten Thurlow of Phoenix, AZ; Great-grandchild - Asher Thurlow
Bil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon Kiger, Brother Robert Kiger, Sister Alice and her husband Glenn Jessen.
The memorial service will be at 10am Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 9am prior to the service.
Following the service a luncheon will be served at Izaak Walton west of Fremont. Please direct memorials to the family.
