Died Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Stanton Health Center

Dorothy was born November 26, 1927 in Rural West Point, Nebraska to Ernest and Selma 'Krueger' Abendroth. She was raised on a farm near West Point. She attended District #25 and #27. Then she attended St. Paul's Lutheran School. Dorothy married Willis Gerwick on June 23, 1948. The couple moved to Scribner in 1957. She worked at the Scribner Good Samaritan Center for many years, retiring in 1996.

Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner and it's Ladies Aid group. She loved to make and decorate cakes, gardening, embroidery and crocheting. She loved baking bread, rolls and making pies for the church stand. Dorothy and Willis belonged to many card clubs and loved to go dancing on Saturday nights. Out of all the things she loved to do; GiGi (named by her grandchildren) loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She also loved all her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. She has had many dear friends through her life and she has cherished each and every one of them.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willis, 3 sisters Elveria, Elaine and Luella.

The funeral will be 10 am, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
