Kenneth Calvin Snyder, 82, of Fremont
died Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at Fremont Health Medical Center.

Kenneth Calvin Snyder was born to Valeria (Val) Walling Grove Engel and Harold Grove on May 31, 1935 in Fremont, Nebraska.

Ken was the consummate entrepreneur having started his first business at age 15. His business interests started with television repair, included auto repair and a service station, but his long-term interest was telecommunications where he operated a two-way radio shop servicing area farmers and businesses, fire and rescue departments and law enforcement including their 911 dispatch centers. He offered paging services and cellular telephones, and owned communications towers. Ken had a special interest in classic cars and acquired a collection. His 80th birthday present to himself was a 3-wheel Harley Davidson.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Patricia Grove, and foster dad, Harry Snyder. Kenneth spent his early years living in Omaha, then moved to the Masonic Home in Fremont. He was taken in by Harry Snyder as a foster child and a lifelong relationship ensued, in honor of which, Ken changed his surname.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Holmer Snyder, son Dean Snyder (Brenda), Omaha, daughter Gayle Snyder Brock (Peter), Henderson, Nevada, and extended family Tom Holmer, Omaha, Kristen Holmer, Kearney, and Randy Wheelock (Karen), Fremont, along with eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be 11 AM Saturday (Nov. 25, 2017) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Salvation Army, Fremont Rescue Squad, and Dodge County Humane Society.

After nearly 50 years of knowing you , family member and friend , I find the thought of you silent totally unbelievable and incredibly SAD. There were times when we didn't see each other and then when we'd get together it was like we picked up from a day ago. I loved your wit and the way you expressed it and when the occasion called for wisdom and understanding you always had plenty of that too. You were certainly one of kind and will be greatly missed. Grateful for knowing you and asking Heaven to welcome you home with joy and all those you held dear here to meet you at the gate. Condolences to Karen and other family and friends who will also miss ' Snyde ' Love , Jan
