He was born to Harry and Susie (Heller) Sick on January 28, 1928 at Hooper NE.
After graduating from Hooper High School in 1945, he and his father formed a partnership in farming and cattle feeding. He continued to farm north of Hooper until he retired. He served in the army during the Korean conflict for two years with one year spent in combat in Korea.

He was an active member of the Hooper American Legion Post 18, Winslow/Hooper VFW Post 10535 and was a lifetime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. For several years he served as a member of the Hooper township supervisors.

He married Ruth Jones on May 25, 1957 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary with friends and family in Omaha.

He is survived by
his wife, Ruth, of Hooper
daughter Dianne Yablonski and husband, Tom of Papillion,
son Paul and wife Marla of Fremont,
sister Rosemary Milbrandt and husband Lowell of Omaha
and their three sons, Jeff, Todd, and Jon,
three step-grandchildren Tim, Maggie and Mary Kate,
and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an Aunt Ann, and his grandparents.


The funeral will be on Wednesday January 9 at 2:00pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooper Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday January 8, from 3pm to 8pm with family receiving friends from 6pm to 7:30pm all at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 18 and VFW Post 10535 Honor Guard.
