Emery Williams

Emery was born December 20, 1921 in the home of his parents, Sanford and Louise 'Ratliff' Williams in Spearfish, South Dakota. He attended grade school and high school in Deadwood, South Dakota.
He served in the United States Army during the WW II years of 1942 to 1946 with duty in the South Pacific. Following his discharge, he went to work for Kellye's Dairy in Deadwood and in June of 1946, he went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Because of his work with the telephone company, he lived in Deadwood and Rapid City in South Dakota, and Chadron, Bridgeport, the Avery area of Bellevue while working at the Offutt Air Force Base, and in 1965 he came to Fremont with the phone company. He retired in 1982.
On May 16, 1948, Emery was married in Lead, South Dakota to Dorothy Reed.
Emery was a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC. He was also a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200, Fremont Golden 'K' Kiwanis Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A.M., and Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star.
Emery was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, on March 17 of this year (2008). He was also preceded by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

grandson - Michael and wife Thi Williams, and their daughter Samantha of Ft. Worth, Texas

Yvonne Hanson of Roseville, Calif.
brother - Hubert and wife Ruth Williams of Whitewood, South Dakota

The funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday (April 10th) in the First Congregational Church, UCC, with the Rev. Terri Akkerman officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Visitation will continue at the church Thursday morning for an hour before the funeral. Memorials are suggested to his church.
