Wilbur "'Bud'" D. Johnson

He was born August 15, 1928 on the family farm near Denison, Iowa to Bernie and Mabel Johnson. He moved into Denison with his family and grew up there.

Bud worked for Western Union before going into the United States Army where he served 2 years, part of his tour of duty being in Japan. On his return home he went to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad on their line gang. He worked throughout the midwest, and when he retired after 43 years, he had been working as a lineman electrician.

On November 27, 1949, he was married to Darlene Kumm in Bazile Mills, Nebraska. During the first 4 years of their marriage, they moved around due to his work with the railroad. Then in 1953, they made Fremont their home as he continued working for the railroad.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

granddaughter - Erica Johnson of Nashville, Tenn.
grandson - Zach Myers of Fremont
sister - Aleda Andreson of Columbia, Missouri

He was preceded in death by sons Ronald and Kevin, a brother Virgil, and a sister Dorothy Butler.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (May 19th) in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The United States Flag will be presented by the Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Sunday from 2 to 6 PM, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 PM.
