LeRoy was born February 20, 1919 on the family farm in Cuming County near West Point to Herman and Minnie 'Kind' Hasenkamp. He was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Lutheran Church at Beemer. LeRoy attended Dist 5 School in Cuming County through the 8th grade. During this time he could be found scooping snow for .75 cents.

LeRoy married Ardys Fischer on August 11, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church west of Scribner. LeRoy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its bowling team. He was also the Sunday School Superintendent there. During his working years LeRoy was a farmer. He ran a snow plow for Dodge County and also worked for the Dodge County Bridge Crew for 15 years during this time. He then worked for Don Hart at the butcher shop and for Hoegemeyer Hybrids Inc., while continuing to farm until retiring from farming in 1983. LeRoy and Ardys then moved into Scribner. They belonged to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. LeRoy enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He also liked to hunt and especially liked to hunt racoon during the night. He enjoyed watching his son in the sports they were in. LeRoy was a worker and liked to be kept busy. The Hasenkamps moved to Fremont in 1998.

Jerry and wife Patty Hasenkamp of Omaha
Don and wife Sandy Hasenkamp of Bode, IA.
9 grandchildren - Malia (Dan) Nemecek, Christina (Joel) Leaders, Anne Hasenkamp, LeAnn (Matt) Foral, Jennifer (T.J.) Kock, Greg (Kim) Hasenkamp, Brad Hasenkamp, Jordan Hasenkamp, Phil (Pamela) Hasenkamp.
6 Great grandchildren - Makayla and Rylee Nemecek, Landon Leaders, Christian Hasenkamp, Gabriella and Finnegan Hasenkamp.
Sister - Lavanda and husband Leonard Schuetze of West Point

LeRoy was preceded in death by a daughter Eileen Sullivan; 3 brothers Lester, Melvin and Warren Hasenkamp;
and 2 sisters Winnefred Drieling and Mildred Wickman.

The funeral will be Thursday March 18 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. The committal will take place at the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church and the Scribner Ball Fields. Visitation will be Wednesday March 17 from 3:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
