Lyle Schlotfeld, 70, of Fremont, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lyle was born on October 29, 1955, in Fremont, Nebraska, to the late Clarence and Anna Schlotfeld. He grew up in the area and attended high school in Blair, Nebraska. On July 28, 1978, he married the love of his life, Nancy Trout. The following year, in 1979, the couple moved to the family farm, where Lyle spent the next 48 years finding his true passion and daily satisfaction in farming. Alongside his lifelong dedication to the land, Lyle and Nancy successfully owned and operated a truck dealership right from the farm throughout those decades.
While he took great pride in his work, Lyle's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Lyle and Nancy were blessed with two daughters, Susie and Angie, and nothing brought him more happiness than watching his family grow. He cherished every moment spent creating lasting memories with his eight grandchildren, who were his absolute pride and joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy Schlotfeld; his daughters, Susie (Scott) McWhirter and Angie (Jeremy) Moss; and his eight grandchildren: Ally Moss, Lauren McWhirter, Wyatt Moss, Katie Moss, Kenzie McWhirter, Ryan Moss, Connor McWhirter, and Emmy Moss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Anna Schlotfeld.
In accordance with Lyle's wishes, there will be no public funeral or visitation services. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
