William "Bill" O. Wilson

July 22, 1926 - September 26, 2018

William "Bill" Orrie Wilson age 92 passed away September 26, 2018.

He was born July 22, 1926 in Cheney, NE. He and his family moved several times farming in Hubble, NE, Silver Creek, NE and East of Uehling, NE., graduating from High School in Hooper, NE. He was active in the Army Air corps in 1946 and 1947 and stationed in Guam. After discharge Bill claims that he and a friend were on Broad street in Fremont when he met Von Deen Hurlbut and "it was love at first sight". They were married in Fremont October 10, 1948 and would have had their 70th anniversary this year. After getting married Bill decided to leave farming and drove truck hauling everything from farm equipment to gas to milk. Finally finding steady work at Hormel`s in Fremont in 1955 and retiring from there in 1988. Never being one to sit idol Bill continued working part time jobs including graveyard shift cleaning fast food kitchens, the county landfill, delivered flowers for Vern`s for many years, finishing his working career mowing about 10 yards a week at age 85.

Through the years Bill and Von Deen were very active with their church, First Lutheran, including cooking for the traveling FLY (First Lutheran Youth) group for 9 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Joan Russell and Charlotte Pratt.

Bill is survived by his wife Von Deen, sister, Dolores Avant, of Citrus Heights, CA, his brother, Wesley Wilson, of Warsaw, MO, his daughters, Linda Lallman, Chris (Brett) Courcier, both of Fremont, Karen Kelly (Brian Freyermuth) of Atlanta, GA, sons, Wayne Wilson of Fremont, Gary Wilson of Rochester, MN, and James (Cecily) Wilson of Pacifica, CA. Bill also has eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

There is no viewing but the family will receive friends at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, Monday Oct. 1st from 5-7pm.

A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Fremont, Tuesday Oct. 2 at 11AM with the Rev. Marty Tollefson officiating. Military Honors will be performed at the church immediately following the service.
