Dorothy L. Cordes age 93
of Scribner
Died Thursday January 15, 2015
at Fremont Health Medical Center

Dorothy was born September 6, 1921 in West Point, NE. to Otto and Clara (Moeslein) Weber. She grew up in West Point and moved to Scribner while in high school. She graduated from Scribner High School in 1939. After high school she worked as a beautician until she married Raymond H. Cordes on April 24, 1943. For a while after their marriage Dorothy followed Ray around the country while he was training in the U.S. Marine Corps. She came back to Scribner when Ray was shipped to the Philippines, and while he was serving in the Philippines, Dorothy, along with Marcella Lamberty helped run the Cordes Brothers store in Scribner.

After Ray returned from his military service the couple resided in Scribner. Dorothy enjoyed the simple life that Scribner and the surrounding area had to offer. She became a mother to two children, raised her family and continued to help at Cordes Brothers. Recently she had been a resident at the Elkhorn Valley Villa. She was thankful for her friends and the staff at the Villa, and the enjoyment they provided her during her later years. Once a year for the last three years, Dorothy would travel by herself to California and spend time with her daughter Patricia and her family, going all over the state attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's events. She also enjoyed going with her Son, Gary and his family to the contemporary service at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner and was a faithful member of the bible study led by Pastor Schut.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Ray in February of 2009 and a brother Harvey.
