Ramona J. Bennett age 84
of Fremont, died Wednesday September 17, 2014
at the Hooper Care Center.

Ramona June Fusselman was born June 4, 1930 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Ira Ivan & Edith Adoline Ovilia (Hammerlun) Fusselman. She grew up in rural Boone County, attending district 84 and district 7 schools. She spent her freshman and sophomore years at Albion High School and was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. When the family moved to a farm near St. Edward, she attended high school there for her junior and senior years, graduating in 1947.

After graduating she attended Luther Academy in Wahoo for a semester, then returned to Columbus, Nebraska to work at the hospital. After a time she moved to Fremont and was employed in the office of Midland College. Later she worked as a clerk at Schwesers Dept. Store. In 1950 she was hired to work at the Hormel plant in Fremont. It was there she met B. Dale Bennett, became engaged and then married on February 3, 1952. She quit work to start their family and Debora was born first, then Diane, then Darci, and then Karen. Ramona and Dale built their present home in 1958 and Ramona became a stay at home mom to raise the girls. After the girls left home, Ramona returned to work taking care of the lunch program tickets at Clarmar School for several years.

Ramona was no stranger to hard work. When on the farm she helped with the farm chores. She milked cows before going to school in the mornings and at harvest time she helped her dad pick corn. "Dad took three rows and I took two." She liked being outdoors and being in her favorite clothes bib overalls. Ramona was a kind, friendly, loving and lovable person who loved her family greatly. She liked to dance and sing and was a church choir member for several years. After Dale took her fishing on one of their first dates she took to that quickly and family spent many summer fishing vacations on Rush Lake in Minnesota. She loved to travel and over the years the family took many road trips to see the country. After the girls had left home, Dale and Ramona bought a fifth wheel trailer and traveled with that from Alaska to Newfoundland, over most of the U.S. and most of Canada. Ramona really enjoyed her home and having her family and her sisters and families visit for the holidays. She will be remembered and missed greatly by the family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband B. Dale Bennett, daughters Debora and husband Dale Goreham, Diane and husband Dave Carlson, Darci and partner Paul Dame, and Karen and husband Joe Sullivan. sister Doriene Gustafson, brother-in-law Larry Reynoldson, grandchildren Travis and wife Amber Goreham Kylie and husband Jeff Schrieber, Sara Crist and partner Dan Kreikemeier, Amber Haney and Dylan Haney, two great grandchildren Annemarie and Autum Slaughter, and many nieces and nep;hews.
