Merne A. Rohlfs age 86, of Fremont,
entered into his eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, August 6, 2014.

Merne was born in Persia, Iowa to Fred and Lucille (Aleck) Rohlfs on February 23, 1928. He graduated from Underwood, Iowa high school in 1945.

He married LaVonne Richards in Omaha on September 9, 1950, and moved to Fremont in 1951 to manage the Texaco station with Don Longacre. He was stricken with polio in 1952. After more than a year, he began working at Peterson Machine then went to Auto Electric, and for many years was shop foreman at P & H Electric. Merne retired to enjoy building radio controlled airplanes and flying them with the Fremont Flyers.

Merne was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in many positions. He was active in the local and zone Lutheran Laymen's League

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lucille.

3 daughters Susan (Roy) Rogers of Blair
Nancy (Jeff) Christensen of Lincoln
Linda Rohlfs of Iowa City, Iowa
6 grandchildren
8 great grandchildren

The funeral will be 10am Monday, August 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 4 to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Orphan Grain Train or the Scribner Good Samaritan Center, Scribner, NE.

I never knew him to have a bad day (but he probably did) I will always remember his smile and his laughter. As a friend & classmate to Nancy.....I have many fond childhood memories of Merne. I know my Dad & Mom will remember him too. He was such a kind sweet person and I will always remember his great smile!! He will be missed but remembered by all those that knew him. My sincere condolences.
