Kenneth "Dale" Kappeler was born on January 25th, 1925 near Valley to Jacob and Mellie (Roth) Kappeler. He attended Midland College for 2 years before entering the Armed Services. He served from 1945 to 1947 in Italy. After being honorably discharged, he returned to farming near Valley. He married Bette Ann Freeman on June 11, 1947. She passed away in June 1993.

Dale married Donna (Bloemker) Skoog on December 30, 1997.

Dale is survived by his wife, daughter, Linda (Garry) Goracke of Fremont and son, Jeffrey Kappeler, of Valley. Step-children Kathlene Weber of Fremont, Steven Skoog of Colorado Springs, CO, Arnold Skoog of Frisco, TX and Ronald Skoog of Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren Tami (Glenn) Kietzmann of Carroll, Keri Leeper of Fremont and Kelle Goracke of Ankeny, IA. 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, first wife, Bette, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter, step-daughter Marjorie McConnell

Honorary pallbearers are Gene Volnek, Darian Dickmeyer, David Volnek, Dean Edward Hoffman Jr., Robert Kuhr, and Steve Parson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and the May Museum.

The memorial service will be 2pm Wednesday April 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The flag will be presented by the Fremont Honor Guard (VFW Post 854 & American Legion Post 20).
