at her home

Ella was born January 25, 1917 on a farm southwest of Scribner near Webster to William and Maria 'Peterson' Wiegand. At the age of 7 she and her family moved to Scribner. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and graduated from Scribner High School in 1934. She was employed at the Safeway office in Omaha before she married Harold R. Harms on February 2, 1946. Shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm southwest of Scribner and 6 years later moved to the farm south of Scribner where she resided until moving into Fremont in 1977.

Ella enjoyed gardening, reading crossword and jigsaw puzzles, her pets and her family. Harold died on September 8, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Harold, and a sister Viola Edmunds.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Pat(Jerry) Malcom of Fremont, Mary(Richard) Rhodes of Omaha, and Nancy(Dan) Witthuhn of Fremont. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Amy(Mike) Backstrom, Katy(Bill) Kerrey, Jeff Rhodes, and Scott(Lisa) Witthuhn; 3 great grandchildren, Wade Backstrom, Renee Backstrom, and Elena Witthuhn; several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The Celebration of Ella's 97 years will be 11am Friday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Matt Knopf will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society or the First Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast Ministry. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

    Will miss reading her cards she sent at Christmas time. She always talked about how the weather was. Didn't really know her that well, last time I saw her I was to young to remember much, but if she was like my grandmother she was a special person.
