James L. Schmoll, 67, of Uehling, Nebraska passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020 after a brief lung cancer journey. He was the son of Darold and Joyce Schmoll of Tripp, SD and was born in Parkston, SD at Avera St. Benedict Health Center on June 26, 1953.

Jim spent his youth growing up in Tripp where he attended grade school and graduated from Tripp High School. After graduation, he attended the University of South Dakota at Springfield for one year. He transferred to a college in Minneapolis, MN and earned a degree as a Medical Lab Technologist. His long career in hospital labs started in Minnesota.

Jim's desire to fit as many adventures as possible into his life led him to work in Utah and California for several years. He thoroughly enjoyed masterfully telling stories about his experiences to his friends and family. His nieces and nephew especially enjoyed his quick wit and generosity.

As his parents' health declined, Jim moved closer to home and worked in South Dakota and Nebraska. His kind heart and charitable spirit were evident when it concerned his family and close friends.

Jim was an avid collector of rare coins, antiques, memorabilia and artifacts. He was inquisitive and loved to share his vast knowledge of the world with those around him.

Jim is survived by his sisters, Paula Lynch of Woonsocket, SD, Carrie Gutierrez of Luverne, MN; nieces Amanda (Dan) Neugebauer of Sioux Falls, SD, Kimberly Lofgren of Mitchell, SD, and Kelsey (Dzenan) Berberovic of Sioux Falls, SD.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Darin Zoss.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a private family only service for Jim. The family is planning a public memorial service for a later date and additional details will be shared at that time. In the meantime, we invite you to show acts of kindness in memory of our dear brother and uncle Jim.
