Emmy L. Pribnow, age 80 of Scribner
passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Colonial Haven in Beemer, NE.

Emmy was born March 29, 1940 in West Point, Nebraska to Carroll and Bess (Holub) Rexin. She faced polio as a child and after leaving the hospital, had to relearn how to walk. In 1958, she graduated from Scribner High School. Emmy wed her high school sweetheart, Otto Junior Pribnow, on October 7, 1958 at St. Lawrence Church in Scribner. Junior and Emmy lived and raised their four children on the homestead family farm outside of Scribner. They moved into Scribner in 1989. In addition to being a homemaker, Emmy worked at the ASCS office in West Point and then at Swanson Insurance in Scribner until retirement. Shortly after retirement, she battled and overcame cancer.

She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner as well as the St. Catherine's Guild. Over the years, Emmy served the church in many ways including teaching CCD, CCD Coordinator, Guild President, organizing funeral dinners, serving as an EMHC, a daily Mass Lector and she was a Deaconate wife. Emmy and Junior guided many couples in prepping for the sacrament of marriage providing an admirable example for newlyweds. They celebrated 62 years of marriage in October.

Emmy will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a strong faith, kind heart and beautiful smile. She enjoyed playing cards and was in several Bridge clubs. She treasured spending time with family, including coffee after church, drives around the country and an occasional toddy on the back porch. Emmy was always ready to go, whether it be out to eat, a day shopping, a bus trip or vacation. She enjoyed family trips to Okoboji, boating trips, and wintering "South." She never passed on a chance to ride along.

She volunteered in the community by serving on the Franciscan Hospital Foundation Board, the Scribner Library Board, as a volunteer for St. Francis Hospice, Meals on Wheels, as well as a preparing food for the Care Core.

    To my dearest Pribnow family,
The bonds of love and friendship do not end in death but are strengthened. Heaven has come closer because someone we love and cherish is there. Accept my deepest condolences and prayers over the loss of Mother Emmy. She welcomed me into her house and gave me a home away from home. Her love, kindness and generosity are one of a kind. May God whom she served unreservedly reward her with a beatific vision. On behalf of my family in Kenya and my humble self, I am sending prayers and love to you all in this difficult moment. May Gods consoling presence abide with you all and May the gentle soul of our dear Mother find peace in God's loving arms. In my heart she lives forever.
  4. Lynn & Jeannine Moeller
