Cora A. "Corky" Braun, age 79, of Fremont
Passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at Pathfinder Place in Fremont

Corky was born on October 3, 1937 near Beemer to Leonard and Blanche (Conrad) Blumer. She grew up in the area and graduated from Beemer High School. On June 13, 1955 she was married to Clifford W. "Shorty" Braun in Beemer. They lived in Wisner, then moved to Fremont in 1958. In 1963, the couple moved to a home on East First Street, where Corky remained until she moved to Pathfinder Place in 2016. Her husband moved earlier to Dunklau Gardens, where he still lives. Corky's life had been enriched in recent years by her cat companion, Bella and many visits from friends and family.

Her career in medicine began when she worked for the hospital in Fremont and continued when she worked for Drs. Andrew and Alexander Harvey. Upon their retirement, Corky attended Southeast Community College for two years, graduating with Distinction and receiving her Diploma in Practical Nursing in September of 1985. She worked for several of the area care facilities, including Nye Pointe.

She enjoyed traveling, raising her family, cooking, gardening, reading and being involved in as many of her grandsons' activities as possible. Her openness to new experiences led to some very interesting stories and many new friends.

Corky will be missed! SHe had such a bright personality and was kind as could be! I hope Bella went to a good home, as she was her light and companion. I came and trimmed Bella's nails a few times. She lived across the way from my grandma at Pathfinder and was always so sweet and welcoming! Prayers to family at this time!

Peggy and Wendy boy what to say. I loved for Corky so much, and so did my mother and now they are together in heaven. I know Corky missed,my mom deeply. I guess it brings a bit of ease knowing those two are up there causing mischief together once again. My thoughts, and prayers are with you all at this time. Just know we all loved Corky very much.
