Mary Ann Rudd was born April 22, 1933 to Clarence and Sylvia (Termansen) Rudd in St. Charles, Illinois. She graduated from St. Charles High, later working as a typist for the FBI in Washington D.C. and San Diego. In 1955, she married Daniel Monson in St. Charles and had four children. Mary took an active role in congregations Dan served as pastor, from Minnesota to California, Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Mary wore many hats. She operated a craft shop, The Shepherdess, served as chairperson of the Bicentennial Committee and served on the Historical Society of Saunders County, and as co-director (with Dan) of the Wyoming Church Coalition, lobbying for social justice. She loved literature, evidenced by her personal library and penchant for including original poems with her gifts and cards. Mary also owned many hats, a small portion of her lifelong collection of costumes and vintage clothing, often proudly loaned out for plays. Occasionally, Mary performed on stage herself in melodramas at the Cheyenne Opera House and venues in Wahoo and Fremont.
Mary was preceded by her husband, Daniel, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Monson. She is survived by her children, Diane (Keith) Paseka of Fremont; Tim (Traci) Monson of Bloomington, IL; Philip Monson of Kansas City, KS and Steve Monson of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren, Jason Paseka, Bryan Paseka, Sara (Brock) Ellis, Radley Monson, Maura Monson, Adrian Torres Rodriguez and Janitzi (Trey) Furniss; great-grandchildren, Ness, Ansleigh, Cyra and Carson; and brother, Don (Eunice) Rudd and three nephews.
The funeral is 10:30 AM Thursday, April 13th at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont, visitation from 6-8 PM Wednesday, April 12th at Ludvigsen Mortuary. A private committal will follow. Memorials: Sinai Lutheran Church, Midland University and Dodge County Historical Society.

Fremont, NE Monday, April 17, 2017 We just learned of Mary's passing. Our daughter, Diane, was sponsored by her one year for confirmation. She was so very interested in her. She was very supportive. She was such a good Christian. We will miss her.Gary Overfield
Fremont, NE Wednesday, April 12, 2017 So sorry for your loss. I enjoyed getting to know Mary these last few years. I always enjoyed visits with her, even when on those occasions when I didn't get out into the garden as I had intended. She did love to talk-- and I was a willing listener.Donna Simonson
Fremont, NE Wednesday, April 12, 2017 It is with great sadness that Mary has passed. We were neighbors for many years in Wahoo. I just became reacquainted with her several months ago at Shalimar Garden. I was thrilled to see her again after so many years. She and I use to have so much fun with sports activities and watching our kids host the Dr. Sanqunary(sp) benefit every year. Our children, now adults were friends. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. May you find peace in all the wonderful memories you must have!
