James W. Carson age 90 of Fremont
died Monday January 2, 2017 at Nye Legacy Health and Rehab

James was born April 29, 1926 in Newcastle, Nebraska to William and Cecelia 'Winner' Carson. When he was 7, his mother passed away and he was sent to the Fremont Orphans Home. At age 12 he went to the Herman and Lena Kupke family in Murdock, NE. and went to school in Murdock. After school, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Leona Timm on August 31, 1947. They raised 5 children. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and he played the guitar and banjo and enjoyed polka music. James worked hard, from farming to working in a lumber yard in Oregon, he built houses, owned a gas station in Onawa, Iowa, lived in Kennard, NE where he served on Volunteer Fire Dept. and became a sales representative for auto parts and hydraulics. After retiring he moved back to Murdock, then to Fremont in 2003. He always had a smile for everyone he met and offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

A special thank you to his extended family at Nye Legacy where he spent the last 6 years.

James was preceded in death by a son Jimmy, brother Virgil who died during WWII, and granddaughter Danielle.

The funeral is 10am Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fremont. Burial is in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Murdoch with Military Honors. Visitation is Thursday from 2pm to 8pm with family present 5pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Memorials suggested to the family.
