In 1997, Kathy moved to Madison, Nebraska to be closer to home to help out with the care of her parents and to help out on the farm. You would find her 'home' almost every weekend. She taught at Madison High School for 14 years. Kate loved being a teacher. She said she could get so involved in school that she didn't think of it as a job, but instead it was an opportunity to impact students' lives. Kate always wanted to help others on all levels, from furthering their education to fighting cancer.
Kathy was a member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Madison, St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. She was involved in bible study and helped with many activities at each church including CCD and Guild. She was a member of PEO. She belonged to many academic organizations but cherished her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma.
Kate enjoyed gardening, walking when she could do it and driving. She was always ready to drive a school van (mostly because she'd get car sick otherwise.) She enjoyed canning fruits, vegetables and mowing lawns. After she retired she volunteered to teach GED and ESL classes in Madison. She also volunteered her services to the Madison Star Mail newspaper.
In April 2000, Kate was diagnosed with lymphoma. She believed she would have died at that first diagnosis. But in her family, you never quit; you helped each other through the rough times. Her sisters Marian, Joyce and Jan gave her inspiration and help beyond explanation. Her brothers Jim and Jerry kept her tough and fighting. Her parents made her independent and stubborn and instilled a faith in God that was unyielding.
Kathy was always appreciative to all the people in the health care field that touched her life, and helped her fight the gallant fight for so many years. She always talked highly of the doctors and nurses at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for their willingness to continually think out of the box, and their persistence in over seeing her health care. Kathy was always willing to share her expertise and networking to anyone needing support and information on battling cancer. The family is also grateful to the doctors and staff at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Kate relied on her friends like Martha Scott Piper, Marilyn Haller, Jo Lux, and Linda Lockhart, Kate Trindel, and Julie Engleman for her positive outlook on life. She relied on her students for her ambition and energy and she spoke often of so many of them.
Survivors include her siblings: Marian (Ed) Frisch of Madison, Joyce Glodowski of North Bend, Jim (Pam) Glodowski of Farnam, Jan(Carl) Aschoff of West Point and Jerry Glodowski of North Bend as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marge Glodowski.
The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday July 21 at 10:30am at St. Leonard Catholic Church in Madison. Visitation will be Monday at St. Leonard Catholic Church in Madison with the family present from 4pm to 7pm with a Wake Service at 7pm.
The committal will be Tuesday at 2:30pm at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Scribner.

San Francisco, CA Thursday, August 6, 2015 "Miss G" - later Kathy - was an inspiration to me and to many of my fellow Culbertson High School alums (not the least siblings). She encouraged us to strive for excellence and not be afraid to be different. Miss G helped me so much, especially in my final year at CHS, and I have her to thank for pushing me:"I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Danbury, NE Wednesday, July 22, 2015 As I was a student of Culbertson High School graduating in 1980, I had the privilege of having Miss "G" as my English teacher. I fondly remember her inspiration and dedication as a individual that left her imprint on me. Her laugh and her smile were infectious. With deepest sympathy to the loss of your loved one.Matt Thompson
