Ethel was born in Pierce, Nebraska on January 12, 1921 to William and Emma (Thom) Rosenkotter. She grew up in Pierce where her father owned a pharmacy, attending Zion Lutheran School and graduating from Pierce High School. While in school, she worked in her father's pharmacy, which also had a soda fountain. Following high school, she attended Wayne State College. She was then employed for several years by Cones State Bank in Pierce. She began as a teller, and eventually became a loan officer.
On June 10, 1972, Ethel Rosenkotter was married to Milton 'Borgie' Borgmeyer, and they made their home in Fremont where Milton was a car salesman for the Sid Dillon dealership. After their marriage, they enjoyed traveling, and spending the winters in Texas for about 15 years.
Ethel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and played in their bell choir. She had worked on the election board, and she enjoyed music, and arts and crafts.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Milton, her brother, and her parents.
The funeral service is 10:30 AM Monday in the Chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 PM, and at the church on Monday for an hour before the service.
