Francis Edward Miller was born March 9, 1934 to Irvin and Maggie (Amen) Miller in Loveland, Iowa . He entered the army on March 29, 1956 and was honorably discharged February 12, 1958. On September 6, 1956 he married Darlene Timm. Francis was a 4H leader of the Bell Creek View 4-H Club for over 25 years. Francis farmed in Washington County for 25 years until he had a disabling brain bleed in 1981. He helped local farmers in the Telbasta area for many years. Darlene 'Dolly' passed away in 1999. Francis then moved in with his daughter in 1999. He spent time making coffee at the VFW on Fridays. Francis was also involved in the Logan Valley shooting club for many years as an instructor and helper.

Francis was an outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed watching baseball and his children's and grandchildren's sports. He loved John Wayne movies and Elvis Presley movies. He enjoyed his holiday action figures and spent lots of time entertaining the grandchildren and great grandchildren on Halloween and Christmas. In 2010 Francis moved to the Hooper Care Center and enjoyed his time visiting with the staff and receiving visits from family and friends. Time was spent watching many John Wayne movies.

He was a member of the Hooper VFW and Past member of the Hooper Legion.

daughter - Jean and husband Mark Schafersman of Hooper
grandsons Byron Schafersman, Todd Schafersman and Seth Schafersman
son - Mark Miller of Lawrence, Kentucky
son - Thomas Miller of Iowa
granddaughters Corina Goosen, Angie Pittman and Ashley Miller and grandson Ryan Miller
daughter - Penny Miller of Hooper
son - Chris and wife Melissa Miller of Hooper
grandsons Connor, Nolan and Ty
son - Mitch and wife Liesa Miller of Nickerson
grandson Alex and granddaughter Emily
daughter - Joani and husband Matt Meier of West Point
granddaughters Paige and Bridget and grandson Cash
16 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10am Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder and Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooper Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the Logan View Youth Baseball Association, Dodge County Agriculture Society and the Fremont 4-H Fair. Visitation will be Friday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel.
