Diane K. (Jorgensen) Peterson, 58, of Fremont lost her battle with cancer Sunday, January 4, 2015. She died at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Diane was born to Ernest and Viola (Herbolsheimer) Jorgensen on September 29, 1956 in Fremont. She grew up on the family farm south of Hooper until she moved to Fremont with her parents in 1969. She attended Fremont Public Schools, graduating in 1974. She married Paul Peterson on May 8, 1982 in Fremont.

She was employed by Accent Service Company from 1974 to 1979 and then began her 35 year career in banking at First State Bank & Trust Company-Fremont where she was a Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. The Directors, Officers, and staff of the bank became Diane's second family. The understanding, care and compassion shown to her during her illness will never be forgotten.

Diane was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church of Fremont. She was also a member and past president of the Fremont Noon Kiwanis Club.

Diane loved waterfalls, Christmas, planning family vacations, and family photo albums. Most of all she cherished any time she could spend with her family hoping the memories made through the years will fill their hearts until they are together again.

Survivors include her husband Paul; sons Jeffrey (and wife Paula) Peterson of Wayne, NE.; Timothy (and wife Rachel) Peterson of Elkhorn; and granddaughter Via Peterson, daughter of Jeffrey and Paula; many extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special recognition and thanks to her "cancer buddies", Virgie Eurek, Yvonne Jessen, Jill Marquardt, Gina Peters, Donna Petersen, Shelley Winter and Patti Woodman for their unyielding love and support.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gary and beloved family pet, Snuggles.

The funeral will be 2pm Thursday at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. The burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Al Duminy will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm.

Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society and Sinai Lutheran Church.

Words can't begin to express our sympathy to each one of you at this difficult time. We are in a state of shock as we didn't even know Diane was ill with Cancer. Just reading her obituary, tells us of the wonderful memories she tried to create for all of you. We know you will miss her terribly, but hold on to those memories and she will remain alive in your hearts forever. May God bring peace and comfort to each of you mourning her passing. She is resting with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
