He was in the army reserves, and when WW II broke out, his unit was called to active duty. He served in the European Theatre of operation under General Patton and the Battle of the Bulge. Then as a mechanic, he repaired equipment in France, preparing for the Pacific Campaign. Near the end of the war, he was stationed in California for the rest of his enlistment. On his return to Fremont, he went into business with his father E.J., and his brother Stanley, operating Andy's Garage. As Chevrolet mechanics, they repaired and also sold Chevrolets. After 42 years of operating the garage, Kenneth and brother Stanley, both retired in 1981.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he did many maintenance jobs. He was a 60 + year member of the American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. He had been a member of the Fremont Boat Club and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a driver for Steffy's and also drove for Dunrite, delivering their products.
On June 2, 1946, Kenneth was married to Margie Metschke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday (Dec. 19th) in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Meyer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Visitation will also be Friday morning at the church for an hour before the service. The family suggests that memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
