Jackson Eric Blick

April 12, 1997 - June 3, 2013

Jackson Eric Blick was born on April 12, 1997 (on his father's 26th birthday) in Grand Haven, Michigan. He died as a result of a car accident on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the age of 16. He had just completed his sophomore year at Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska. Jackson is survived by his parents, Eric and Jodi Blick; siblings Justine (14), Turner (11), and Grace (9); grandparents Lyle and Virginia Nelson of Fremont, Richard and Shirley Blick of San Jose, CA/Fremont, NE; aunts and uncles Merritt and Dannika Nelson (Oakland, NE), Dwight Nelson (Omaha, NE) and Brent and Karen Patterson (San Jose, CA); cousins Dacey, Caden, Sadie, and Chaney Nelson (Oakland, NE) and Kennedy Bretz (San Jose, CA); special friend Mollie Blanc (Oakland, NE).

Jackson's 16 years were inquisitive, energetic, vibrant, and full of life! He was funny, witty, opinionated and social. Jackson had a bright mind and a love for learning. He enjoyed the challenges of advanced classes and staying involved in school-related activities like Student Council and College Club. Recently Jackson was honored to be selected to the Fremont Chamber of Commerce's 2013-2014 Youth Leadership Academy. Jackson started playing the drums at a young age and it quickly became one of his favorite activities. He was involved in concert band, marching band, jazz band, and his church worship band. He also enjoyed a number of sports, including baseball, football and basketball, but this past year he joined the cross country team and track team and discovered a real passion for running. Jackson had many hobbies. His favorite was fishing at his grandparent's lake in his fishing boat. He also loved to water ski, go boating, play golf, fly helicopters, air soft, collect coins, play electronics with friends and spend time with his girlfriend Mollie. For the past 3 years, Jackson and his family have been involved in starting a new church in Fremont, Grace Church, PCA. He poured many hours into ministry by playing in the band, demo/restoration work in the downtown building, helping with VBS, and going with a mission team to Kenya. Jackson was continually growing in his faith and gaining a deeper knowledge of and love for Jesus. His family rejoices that because of Christ, and God's gift of faith, "to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ" for whom we were made.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 9pm with the family present from 6pm to 9pm at the Fremont Alliance Church. The funeral will be Friday 10am at the Fremont Alliance Church. Private burial will take place at Salem Covenant Cemetery near Oakland, Nebraska. There is no particular memorial designation at this time.
