Irene Anna Bertha Hoge age 100, of Scribner
Died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home.
Irene was born October 11, 1915 near Scribner, Nebraska to Henry and Anna 'Shomshor' Lange. She was baptized at St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church on May 5, 1916 and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church on March 29, 1931. She was raised on her family farm, attended schools near Scribner then began helping her father on the farm. She lived in Chicago for a short time but returned to Scribner when her mother died and continued to help on the farm. She married Berdell O. 'Bud' Hoge on August 15, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After their marriage they returned to Scribner where they were life long farmers even helping their son when he took over. Irene had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church west of Scribner until it closed then became a member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, brother Emil, an infant brother, and sister Shirley Brasch.
The funeral will be 10:30am Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church and Scribner Rescue Squad. Visitation will be Friday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel.
