Blanche M. Bloemker, age 99, of Fremont,
died Tuesday in Nye Pointe, Fremont

Blanche was born June 24, 1916 in Verdigre, Nebraska to Frank and Antonia (Bartu) Hornik. She grew up on a farm near Verdigre and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1935. In 1936, she moved to Hooper and later to Council Bluffs, Iowa.

On November 6, 1938, Blanche was married to Edward Bloemker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. Her husband managed grocery stores for many years for Safeway, in Council Bluffs, in Neligh, Nebraska, and in Lexington. Following his retirement from Electric Fixture and Supply Co. in Lexington in 1980, the couple moved to Fremont where Edward managed the Fremont Monument Co. for their son.

Blanche was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Blanche is preceded by her husband Edward on April 1, 2003, by 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

The funeral service for Blanche will be 1:30 PM Friday (April 22, 2016) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Meyer. The committal will follow in the Hooper Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to her church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be today (Thursday) from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM. Visitation continues at the church for an hour before the service.
