Violetta was born August 9th, 1933, in Herman, Minnesota to Ness and Glydis 'Bowden' Tholund. Vi graduated from Herman High School in 1951. She married Eugene L. Fischbach on June 15th, 1954. Due to Gene's military service they lived in several places. On October 1961, Gene was transferred to Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska, Vi worked at SAC as a Secretary and JSTPS (Joint Strategic Targeting Planning Staff). Vi continued to work at SAC until the year of 1989 when she retired. Vi served as a civilian for the military for 31 years.

Vi became a member of the Lion's Club at Woodcliff in 1991and held offices at the local and district level. She was very active in The Leader Dog program, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, initiated in the very same Chapter in Minnesota that her mother and sister were involved in. When she moved to Omaha, she became a joint member in Papillion Chapter No. 114. She was very active with the Legion of Honor Ladies and member of the Daughters of the Nile.

Every February, Vi and Gene vacationed in Hawaii. They enjoyed the retired life in Woodcliff, Nebraska where the grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy the summer cabin for swimming and activities.

She is survived by her husband Eugene of 61 years, sons Bruce (Kelly) and Dana (Deb), 6 grandchildren: Jessica (John), Elise (Caleb), Paul, Ryun, Kylie, and Dylan, and 3 great-grandchildren: Damian, Brianna, and Chloe; brother Raymond and 3 sisters, Ethel, Norma, and Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents Ness and Glydis, brothers Floyd, Arnold and Vernon.

The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. The Rev. Greg Hall will officiate. Graveside service will be 1:30pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the Woodcliff Lions Club or the Tangier Shrine Transportation Fund.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel will be Wednesday from 3pm to 7pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm. An Order of the Eastern Star Service conducted by the Papillion Chapter #114 will be at 7pm followed immediately by a Job's Daughters Living Cross ceremony, all are open to the public.
