Tommie Joe Ferree was born July 1, 1939 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Harold and Edythe "Billie" Martin. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1957. She had three children. David Paul, Moni, and Douglas Bryant.

She worked as a respiratory therapist in Omaha until she decided she wanted to become a nurse. In 1977, she started nursing school at Clarkson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha. She loved nursing and was very proud of her profession. She worked at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox, KY and Health South Lakeview Rehab Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

She moved to Kentucky in the spring of 1996 to be closer to Moni, Dan and her 2 grandchildren that she adored, Shannon Mikaele Hooven Hobbs and Andrew Raymond Hooven. She loved life in Kentucky and loved being close to her family. She was very involved in their lives and loved taking Shannon shopping and watching Andrew play baseball.

She was actively involved in the American Legion Auxiliary in Elizabethtown, KY and was the President of the Auxiliary for 2 years from 2010-2012.

She moved to Michigan in the summer of 2013. She lived in an assisted living community in Sterling Heights and had lots of friends and was very happy.

TJ was a very outspoken but easy going person and that's what people loved most about her.

She was preceded by her parents, Harold and Billie Martin, grandson Joshua Ferree, sister Vonda Richards, brother in law Jim Richards, nephew John Foster and beloved dog Punkin

She is survived by daughter Moni (Dan) Hooven, sons David and Douglas Ferree. Proud and loving grandmother of Shannon (Phillip) Hobbs and Andrew (Ruschel) Hooven; great grandmother of Aubrianna and Brycen Hobbs and Kyler Hooven. Sister of Gene (Joan) Martin of Fremont and Aldean (Floyd) Foster; nine nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE on Monday at 1:30pm.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
