Dean E. Helgenberger, age 83, of Scribner Died Thursday April 16, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner
Dean Edward Helgenberger was born December 24, 1931on a farm northwest of Scribner to Edward and Emma (Motycka) Helgenberger. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended District School #29 and graduated from Scribner High School in 1949.
He married Gwen Mylander on November 9, 1952 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in North Bend. He farmed until his retirement in 1993, and moved into Scribner. He was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church until its closing and then at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Snyder. He served both churches as Chairman and Elder. He was a member of the American Legion Post 121 of Scribner, and a lifetime member of North American Hunting Club, Pheasants Forever and NRA. He joined St. Peter Lutheran Church in Scribner in March of 2010. He sang in the community choir, was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and racquetball player. Dean taught hunters education for many years and coached boy's baseball and girl's softball for 11 years. He served as President of Farm Bureau, assistant county assessor for 3 years and was on the Dodge County board of adjustment. He sold Golden Harvest Seed and was salesman of the year in 1987 & 1988.

Dina Andersen and fiancee' Mark Meyerink of Scribner Daughter-in-law Cathy Helgenberger of Fremont Grandchildren Nathan Helgenberger, Matthew Helgenberger, Ed Helgenberger, Eric Andersen, John Stollberg, Joey Stollberg 3 great grandsons
Dean was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey and sister Janet.
The memorial service will be Sunday, 1:30pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Flag presentation by the American Legion Post 121 will occur at the church. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
